Good morning! 3 things to know for Saturday, November 7

1. Tar Heel Volunteer Fire Department’s Fall Festival is set for today from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the station at 269 Tar Heel Ferry Road. There will games, cake walk, food and plenty of fun. It’s a great way to support the department.

2. East Bladen and West Bladen High football teams will find out this afternoon about their playoff fortunes. East Bladen, 9-2, is assured of a berth with its record and a second-place finish among Class 2A teams in the combined Four County 1A/2A Conference. West Bladen finished 5-6, but can drop a non-conference loss for state playoff seedings so will have a 5-5 record. That should be good enough to be among the 32 Eastern teams to get in, but the Knights figure to be matched against one of the top seeds. We’ll see how it plays out.

3. Upward basketball and cheerleading registration for grades kindergarten through 5th are being held at Elizabethtown Baptist Church through Nov. 13. Cost is $63. Registration is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Evaluations are scheduled Nov. 16-17 at 6 p.m. at the Christian Activity Center. For information, call (910) 862-4538.

And now you know.
