Riegelwood: Sherrill Dean Ridenhour, a kind, gentle and loved lady has entered her eternal rest at the age of 72. She was born June 21, 1947 in Columbus County, and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove with family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Donnie” Ridenhour; her parents, Paul Wadus and Margaret Malpass Peterson; and brother, Wade Peterson.

Sherrill is survived by her daughter, Misty Ridenhour Garrell and her husband, Michael; son, Richard Ridenhour; nephew, Bryan Peterson who was raised by Sherrill and Donnie; granddaughter, Kristen Brown and husband, Adam; sisters, Wanda Ripa, Joann Adams (Julian), and Nellie Macon (Terry); several nieces, nephews, and friends.

For many years, Sherrill was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kelly. She was a prayer warrior at church and in her daily life. Sherrill’s joyful, Christian spirit was evident as she ministered to the needs of many folks in her community. Most of all Sherrill loved her family and loved being a grandmother. Sherrill’s beautiful smile, engaging personality, and love for her family and her church family will long be remembered.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at Quinn- McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 16550 NC Hwy 53 E., Kelly, NC. Burial in Hargrove Cemetery.
