Three Things to KnowGood morning! 3 things to know for Monday, October 5

1. A flash flood watch, wind advisory, some river flooding along the Cape Fear and a forecast for, perhaps, another inch of rain today in Bladen County. And we’re fortunate compared to people in Columbus, Pender, Brunswick and New Hanover counties, and areas in South Carolina. It’s a matter of perspective.

2. If you’re keeping a scorecard, it’s been 11 consecutive days with measurable rain in Bladen Online’s rain gauge, totaling 10 inches. Since last Thursday, we’ve measured 8.16 inches.

3. Here are some amazing rain totals from midnight Friday through 8 a.m. Sunday, courtesy of the National Weather Service. Calabash, 16.13 inches; Longwood, 13.63; Sunset Beach, 12.64; Georgetown, S.C., 15.95; Little River, S.C., 16; North Myrtle Beach, 15.86; and Kingstree, S.C., 17.53. Those numbers don’t include the additional rain after 8 a.m. Sunday. There’s no words to properly describe those figures.

And now you know.
