The filing period for municipal elections is under way for towns in Bladen County. As of Friday, July 14th, incumbent Lilian Graham had filed seeking re-election to her seat on the East Arcadia town board.

According to the Candidate Listing provided by the Bladen County Board of Elections, there are 15 candidates who have filed seeking elected office. To view the complete candidate listing, click here.

The filing period for elected office closes on Friday, July 21, at 12 noon. No one has filed seeking elected office in Tar Heel and Dublin. The cost to file for an elected office is $5 and can be paid to the Bladen County of Elections in the form of a check or money order.

To be eligible to file for elected office, a candidate must be at least 21 years old. They also must live and be registered to vote in the district in which they are seeking elected office.

Voters must be registered 25 days before an election to vote on Election Day. The regular voter registration deadline for September elections is Aug. 18. For October elections, the deadline is Sept. 15. For November elections, the registration deadline is Oct. 13. Voters may also register and vote during the early voting period using “same-day registration” in places where absentee voting is authorized.
