Due to the potential for roadways to be impacted, the Bladen Lakes Shelter will be closing effective immediately, and moving to the Elizabethtown Middle School Shelter located at 1496 US-701, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.

Anyone seeking additional shelter will need to go to Elizabethtown Middle School or one of the following shelters:

• East Bladen High School, 5600 NC-87 E, Elizabethtown, NC 28337
• West Bladen High School, 1600 NC-410, Bladenboro, NC 28320
• East Arcadia Elementary School, 21451 NC-87 E, Riegelwood, NC 28456

We encourage everyone to stay off the roads if at all possible, so that EMS, Fire, DOT, and power companies can clear trees and power lines from roads. At this time we have numerous roadways that are holding water, and we anticipate that to increase throughout the day. The Bladen County Emergency Operations Center will be continuously monitoring river levels and roads for the potential of any flooding.

For questions please contact the Bladen County Emergency Operations Center at 910-862-7813 and 910-862-7809 for shelter information.
