Protection against scams has always been important. New ways of scams pop-up almost on a daily basis according to some law enforcement. The Bladen County Division on Aging and Lumber River Council of Governments are working together to educate Bladen County residents about scams.
A scam prevention seminar will take place on Thursday, June 15th, from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown. The seminar is free and is sponsored by the Lumber River Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging and the Bladen County Division on Aging.
The purpose of this seminar is to learn how to protect yourself and your family from falling victim to scams which prey on the elderly. The seminar also teaches what do if you are a victim of a scam.
Presentations will be made by Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Senior Law Project, Senior Medicare Patrol, NC Attorney General’s Office, Secretary of State’s Office, Bladen County DSS and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Lunch will be provided and pre-registration is required. To register for the seminar, contact Bladen County Division on Aging at 910-872-6330 by June 12th
