Spread the love

By Amy Schumacher

I remember when summer vacations seemed to stretch on forever. The days were hot and long and offered multiple opportunities for fun, playing with friends, enjoying every minute of sleeping in late and staying up much later than we were ever allowed during the school year.

Nearing the end of the summer my parents would begin adjusting my schedule a little at a time to prepare me for the days when I would need to wake up early, the nights when I would need to get in bed early so I could get a good night’s sleep.

July is coming to a close and half the summer has come and gone. It might be time to start discussing the next school year and begin talking to your children about all they want to accomplish in the coming school year. Plan those trips you have wanted to take with your children and make them count, educationally and to add to your family picture albums. Begin buying school clothes and school supplies a few pieces at a time so it doesn’t hurt your budget so much.

Bladen County Schools will be in full session beginning August 28. No date has been posted for Open Houses at the various schools but we know they will be taking place the week of August 21-25. You can check the Bladen County Schools Website to get the final schedule beginning the second week in August. Log in to http://www.bladen.k12.nc.us/home. Bladen Online will update the website with details once they become available.
