Despite the NCHSAA allowing basketball to be played, Bladen County Board of Education votes to remove West Bladen and East Bladen High Schools from conference play, while other school systems in the Three Rivers Conference are still playing.
Vote was 5 to 3 by Board Members. Players have been practicing in masks and agree to play with the NCHSAA guidelines, but school board takes that option from them.
There is a petition that was started this morning to at least give the athletes and their parents a voice in the matter!
“The school kids, who are best at tolerating the virus, will still be living with the negative effects of these seemingly arbitrary measures, long after the pandemic is a distant memory. The damage to their mental, physical, social and intellectual wellbeing will follow them the rest of their lives”.  – David Simmons
I agree with this wholeheartedly. Depression is real and running full force amongst our youth. The kids need a voice and an advocate on their side! Will Bladen Online be an advocate?
