This year we are bestowed an extra day. How we use it is important. Have you decided to take the day to rise up and live the dream?
A.J. and Paul Alan are the legacy of our small family. My husband, Daine, and I want to leave them a rich heritage. Living here in America has given us a great opportunity to provide a foundation for them to launch their own ideas and dreams.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s statement should not be forgotten. He said “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed…”
The words so passionately spoken by Dr. King, and quoted from the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,” have inspired many.
Recently, infection has spread across Bladen County, North Carolina and our great nation. The politically powerful seek to divide and conquer by oppressing the very ones they are seated to represent.
Politically appointed officials make threats of arrests for peaceful Pledges, while they hold unlawful meetings. Pharmaceuticals make profits from addicts while Middle America pays with their lives. Monopoly is no longer a game, but an investment of the top one percent stealing the dreams of mom and pops.
It is time to “Wake Up!” Bladen County, North Carolina, America and “Rise Up!” The dream is still alive. Although some seek to destroy it locally and nationally, the silent majority continues to work hard to preserve the American way of life.
Some say, “America has no culture.” That is not true.
Freedom is our culture. The fight towards equality, liberty and justice for all is our way of life.
This year let’s commit to look at the issues around us with 20/20 vision. Let us investigate the issues ourselves and overthrow the ones seeking to divide and oppress. It is detrimental to our legacy. Let the next generation see us standing tall for what is right!
Let us “Rise Up” and live the dream of freedom and equality for all.
