I am hoping for a better today, this day than yesterday…to be determined..
Was doing my manly grocery shopping recently and friends stopped and wanted to talk about radio and WBLA years ago. Near and dear to my heart.
Wes Unold’ name came up. Wes was in the area in the 60s and 70s, WAGR, WBLA, then traveled to WJNC in Jacksonville, NC and later to Florida. Wes died years ago, he was a good radio man, would work any shift if he could be off shortly after noon for about an hour to see the ‘Soaps’ in TV.
HIs bride was a Robeson County native, a school teacher, now retired and I occasionally see where she has apparently traveled back home for a visit.
I enjoy discussing those days…If you had a pretty good size ego…and could exist on minimum pay, a job in a small town radio market was good…
This weather Is working on my health….no sleep, coughing my head off, but a better day is coming….Not many thoughts this day…
