Thoughts While Shaving

Congratulations to Jair McElveen of Elizabethtown.  He is a student at Clarkton School of Discovery and earlier this week was elected State President of the Junior High Beta Club at their annual meeting in Greensboro.

Kelly Robeson, Bladen County Division of Aging Director is hosting a  “Dementia Friends NC” information session on Friday, February 22, 2019, and is looking for local people to join in learning about dementia and helping people who are living with it in our community.  It’s a one hour session to take place at the Bladen County Division of Aging, 608 McLeod St., Elizabethtown, NC from 2-3 pm.  Approximately 160,000 North Carolinians age 65+ are living with Alzheimer’s.  Call 910-872-6330 to reserve your seat.

There is a special event planned for this evening (Thursday) at the Bladen County Main Library in Elizabethtown.  It’s intended for adults, but open to ages 8 and up and you are invited.  Attend and make a valentine for a friend.  All supplies are provided.  Call 910-862-6990 today to sign up….

With the Super Bowl in the rearview mirror, the next big annual sporting event is the Daytona 500, kicks off a new season.  It’s set for Sunday, February 17, at 2:30 p.m.

North Carolina is down one US Congressman in DC, actually two.  Confusion reigns for the 9th Congressional seat due to suspected illegal activities in the November General Election.  And, Congressman Walter Jones, who represents the most eastern part of North Carolina is now in a hospice facility, no announcement about his condition.

Former 9th District Congressman Robert Pittenger recently had some pointed words about another fellow NC Republican Congressman.  In an Op-ed in the Charlotte Observer, earlier this week, he was quoted, “The most dangerous place in Washington is between Congressman Mark Meadows and a media camera.”  Probably will not be an exchange of Christmas cards between the two come December.  Pittenger lost his seat in the 2018 primary election.

Regular naps prevent old age, especially if you take them while driving….

No man has ever won a game of ‘notice anything different about me?’

Oh, I’m sorry….Did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?
