We are now on Daylight Savings Time, means we rise an hour early and have more daylight in the afternoon and evening.  Often wonder why, so I Googled.  Among the definitions was this…..”Daylight savings time is a widely used system of adjusting the official local time forward, usually by one hour from the official standard time for the summer months.  This is intended to provide a better match between the hours of daylight and the active hours of work and school.  The ‘saved’ daylight is spent on evening activities which get more daylight rather than being ‘wasted’ while people sleep past dawn.”

Oh yes, DST begins second Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday in November.

For those of us in the 9th NC Congressional District, much conversation about who and how many will seek the vacant position?  No idea, many are expressing an interest, majority appears to be from the Charlotte-Monroe area.

Twenty-six have filed for the special election in the 3rd N.C. Congressional District, the vacancy due to the untimely death of Rep. Walter Jones.  Included are six current elected officials, four political parties, three doctors and at least seven service members.  The filing deadline was Friday, March 8.  Candidates paid $1,740 filing fee.  The district includes all or part of 17 counties in eastern North Carolina.  The primary election is set for April 30, general election or runoff on July 9, if needed and the general election will be September 10.

Upcoming events, Easter (April 21), end of school year and vacation…Time flies…
