Still some around, guess closest to that is Sonic Drive In…We were ‘kewl’ cats, a sandwich and soft drink for you and your date for about a dollar. And you arrived at the site with maybe a dollar’s worth of gas (3 or 4 gallons) in the auto tank.
#1 son sent me a couple of articles about 90 plus year old retirees, both huge Yankee fans. Latest article was about 99 year old, worked hard all his life, currently in a senior citizens center in Smithfield, NC, and with assistance of friends is flying to New York to see his beloved Yankees and taking 3 friends with him. Never flown…good article. The previous article was about a 92 year old signing off his air shift at the radio station at the end of this month after 72 years of broadcasting.
I was a Yankee fan in the 50s and early 60s when the Bronx Bombers were loaded with great players, as were the Dodgers, still in Brooklyn. Great rivalry and for many years, most likely the teams in the World Series. Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and for the Dodgers, Roy Campanella, Carl Furillo, and Pee Wee Reese and others.
