The Mueller Report has captured headlines across the nation, and only a few have seen the report.  Most agree the report should be made available to Congress and the public…all that can be….Both parties will look for favorable talking points and spread the news.  Seems everything is so partisan.

Saw where a Bladen County man won $200,000 in the North Carolina lottery, minus taxes and he collected. Like Santa coming early.  Can’t help but think about all spent on the lottery in this county and across the state.  Proceeds were to be used for public education, and some are….remember?  Lottery funds like the gasoline tax, to often fails to get to the ‘pot’ it is suppose to go to at the state level.

Speaking of money, the towns of Bladenboro and Elizabethtown have received a half million dollars each from the State Recovery Act to assist in disaster related expenses…

Interested in more info about starting a new business?  Check with the Small Business Center at Bladen Community College or visit their office in the Elizabethtown incubator located in the newly renovated, former Elizabethtown Post Office site, West Broad Street, in Elizabethtown.

A reminder of upcoming fundraisers…among them are two related to Bladen We Care, the local volunteers who provide small grants year-round to residents who are in need of mostly medical care, to the tune of $50,000 to $75,000 annually.  The Annual Gala is planned for Friday, April 5th, 7-11 p.m. at Cape Fear Winery.  The Legacy Motown Revue will provide entertainment.  Tickets still available …$100 per couple.  The Annual Byron Gooden Golf Tournament is set for April 25th at the Vineyard Golf Course, White Lake.  Need to sign up soon.  More info from any Bladen We Care board member or call the golf course.
