Think back often to interesting local folks that I had the pleasure of calling my friends, many just ordinary people….

William Wright – Bladenboro,  As a youngster in the ‘boro we would hang-out ’til bout midnight on the corner, at the stoplight.  William was good entertainment.

Bill Ferguson – Elizabethtown, operated a service station…quiet a character and good company if you needed a ‘lift’.  He always had a good story, usually on himself.

Miss Wanda Campbell – Clerk of Court….Bladen’s Ambassador of Good Will…Everybody loved Miss Wanda, she was extraordinary.

Carl McCulloch – Long-time Register of Deeds.  At election time he passed out Kits & Mary Janes’ and other penny candy.  Candy will draw attention.

Bobby Simmons – No one has ever been a better friend to me and no one enjoyed a sale with door busters more than Bobby.  He was a retail pro, before turning to woodworking in his later days.

Just a few, should have never gotten into the name calling business.  There are so many more. I could fill up the page….

Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary.  Gerald Way

In the course of American history, great steps are taken by ordinary people, and ordinary people are not perfect.  Tommy Lee Jones

The work of the Lord is done by ordinary people who work in an extraordinary way.  Gordon B. Hinckley
