Thoughts While ShavingEast Bladen’s Athletic Director, Patty Evers, has issued an alert for someone posing as All Goods LLC, supposedly out of Texas who is soliciting local merchants, maybe others, for money to be used for sponsorships for the local basketball program.  IT IS A SCAM.  Hang Up.

Rainfall at the Hester household totaled about 2.7 inches over the past week.  Good rain, and apparently at a good time for the local crops, as summer time officially arrives.

The 2017 blueberry season is coming to an end. The crop was a little short due to a freeze in March, but still, delicious fruit and hopefully a decent year for local growers.

Bladen County youngsters are participating in numerous activities this time of the year.  Among the latest to be announced is Scott Bowen.  He will be playing in the Perfect Game WWBA National Championship June 30-July 7th in Lake Point Georgia.  He plays with the Dirtbags 17u.  Perfect Game is considered to be the elite amateur baseball scouting organization.  Go Scott!

Lots of publicity related to what is in the Cape Fear River. A public hearing yesterday in Wilmington determined that the GenX discharge is one of about 100 known emerging contaminants.  Disclose them all.
