A couple of baseball thoughts.
Elizabethtown Middle School baseball team finished their 2017 season 6-0 according to John Clark’s articles. The Cougars, coached by Tripp Lancaster, reportedly scored 90 runs, allowed 3 for the season. Great season.
Baseball America is touting MacKenzie Gore, Whiteville Wolfpacker, as the top left-handed pitcher in the upcoming Major League Baseball Draft. The 6-2, 180 pound prospect has committed to East Carolina, but may never arrive in Greenville. The article indicates he is a sure first rounder. Gore has been rumored as high as number 3 to the San Diego Padres and would make a good fit with Atlanta who has the number 5 pick. The 2016 average first-round bonus was $2,897,577, surpassing the 2015 average of $2,774,945. How about that for a 2017 high school graduate? This year’s draft will be held June 12.
