Dublin Peanut Festival is this weekend. Good food and fun and the proceeds assist worthy causes in the area. Begins Saturday with a 10 a.m. parade.
The Bladen County Educational Foundation, a non-profit corporation organized and existing to provide financial help for the public schools and educators of Bladen County, will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, September 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the public meeting room of the Bladen County Board of Education on US Highway 701, south of Elizabethtown. Should last about an hour and interested individuals are invited to attend. New officers are expected to be elected and plans for upcoming fund-raising efforts will be discussed.

With elections upcoming, municipal elections set for November 2017 and local, state and federal office holders filing in early 2018, checked numbers at the Bladen Board of Elections. There are over 22,000 registered voters in Bladen, 22,158 to be exact. The breakdown:
Democrats 22,599 59%
Republicans 3,478 15%
Unaffiliated 5,835 26%
Numbers subject to change by election time 2018.
