Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingTime to get serious about Hurricane Florence!

Hurricane Watch now posted for Bladen, Columbus, & Sampson Counties, closer to the beach, Hurricane Warnings for Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender, Carteret and areas adjacent to the ocean.

The next 72 to 90 hours will be critical for residents of the area.

One of the latest warnings from the National Weather Service, quoting, “This is a life threatening situation from storm surge, to dangerous winds and extreme flooding.  Given the slow motion of the storm as it approaches the coast and moves inland will create a long period of sever impacts.”

Shelters are scheduled to open in the area at noon today.  They include:

East Bladen High School

West Bladen High School

Bladen Lakes Elementary School

East Arcadia Elementary School….contact Bladen Emergency Services for more info….

Prepare for the possibility of long periods without electrical service.

Watch TV, Google National Weather Service and continue to check BladenOnline for updates.

Dublin Peanut Festival, scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled.

I made a trip yesterday to Wilmington with a friend who had a doctors appointment.  Traffic was bumper to bumper coming out of town and no doubt will continue….
