Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingHurricane Florence is a strong willed lady.  Friday at 3 AM, the National Weather Service reports the storm was 35 miles east of Wilmington.

The winds are howling, still have power, despite a blink a short time ago.   A quick check of current conditions at Curtis Brown Airport in Elizabethtown indicates wind speed, north 26 mph and gusts up to 44 mph with less than an inch of rainfall…but that should change soon.

Conditions are expected to change, not for the better, and continue for the next day or so.  Flooding is expected.

Downtown Elizabethtown was like a ghost town yesterday (Thursday) with many stores in the downtown area boarded up.  Fast food restaurants and convenience stores were open, gas was available with no long lines, for the most part.  Government offices and schools were closed and will be today as well.

No doubt this storm will be one we will never forget.

Stay safe.

NFL play last night, Bengals 34, Ravens 23.

All local outdoor activity postponed or cancelled, including the Annual Dublin Peanut Festival and all high school sports activities.

Hang on, better times are ahead….

The first rule of hurricane coverage is that every broadcast must begin with palm trees bending in the wind and a reporter being bounced around by the wind in a driving rainstorm.

The hurricane flooded me out of a lot of memorabilia, but it can’t flood out the memories.  Tom Dempsey
