Thoughts While Shaving

Thoughts While ShavingAttendance was good at last night’s Annual Four County EMC meeting.  Their employees, especially outside workers, have had a tough couple of weeks.  Pictures of damage done by the recent hurricane were shared during the meeting.  Four County serves mostly rural Bladen, Pender, Sampson and Duplin counties and maybe small areas of adjoining counties.  Company officials announced no new rate increases for the coming year and Capital Credit checks would be mailed in December.  Baldwin Branch Men’s Chorus provided the musical entertainment.

FEMA has opened a disaster recovery center in the Ag Center (Bladen County Cooperative Extension building at 450 Smith Circle Drive in Elizabethtown).  They will be open for 60 days to assist citizens with FEMA registrations or status of registrations.  Their hours of operation are 9 AM to 7 PM Monday thru Saturday, except on Tuesdays, then 1 PM to 7 PM.  Closed on Sunday.

NC Baptist Men Disaster Relief is still accepting applications for assistance related to storm damage.  For more information, visit their operations center at Elizabethtown Baptist Church, 1800 W. Broad Street or at Natmore Baptist Church in Kelly.  Applications accepted Monday thru Saturday from 8 AM – 5 PM.  Call 910-874-1084 for details.

The Bladen County Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees for dogs and cats for the month of October.  Many have been left homeless and are being housed at the local shelter.  All need a good home.  Their hours are 12 PM to 5 PM, Monday thru Friday.  Call 910-862-6918 for details.
