Thoughts While ShavingEarly voting for the November 6, 2018 General Elections is underway as of today.  Just one early voting site his year, at the Bladen County Library on N. Cypress Street.  Will be interesting to see how much activity in Bladen County this year.  Two years ago, in the presidential election, 15,743 voted in the county….54.1 percent for Trump, 44.6 percent for Clinton and 1.3 percent for others.

In 2014, (non-presidential election year) 11,712 voted in he General Election.  In the race for Sheriff (normally one of the highest profile contests), 11,579 voted. Jim McVicker (R) received 5,964 votes (51.51 percent) and 5,615 (48.49 percent) voted for incumbent Prentis Benston (D).  Every vote counts.

If you do not vote, don’t complain about the results.  Voting is our way of participating in the process.

Google Bladen County Board of Elections site for the local ballot, or go to the NC State Board of Elections site and click on Bladen County.

Voting early does not exclude you from receiving the slick political ad mailings sure to arrive over coming days and weeks.

Lots of non-political activity as well as we near the midway point of October.  Check all our pages for details.

And follow local sports activity on our Sports Page.  No one round is more knowledge than our own John Clark.

Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do his is by not voting.  Franklin D. Roosevelt

Not voting is not a protest. It is a surrender.  Keith Ellison

If you think you can slander a woman into loving you, or a man into voting for you, try it till you are satisfied.  Abraham Lincoln
