White Lake was loaded this past weekend with runners, swimmers and bikers. 550 athletes participated in three triathlons held at the lake. All three events had their headquarters at the FFA camp on highway 53. Two triathlons were held Saturday and one was held Sunday.
The White Lake Fall Half 2017 Saturday consisted of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and a 13.1 mile run. The winner in the men’s division was James Duff from Carrboro with a time of 4:04:55. The winner in the women’s division was Kelli Kerkhoff from Wilmington with a time of 5:07:25..
Also held Saturday was the White Lake Fall International 2017 which consisted of a 1,500 meter swim, a 45K bike and a 10K run. The winner in the men’s division was Tom Clifford from Wilmington with a time of 2:08:56. The winner in the women’s division, with a time of 2:42:40, was Megan McLeod from Raleigh.
The final event of the weekend was Sunday morning. It was the White Lake Fall Sprint 2017 featuring a 750 meter swim, a 14 mile bike and a 5K run. The men’s division winner was Tom Clifford from Wilmington with a time of 1:01:49. The women’s winner was Lindsey McIver from Durham with a time of 1:13:53.
