Gene Anderson at his store during audit

August 30, 2018

Letter to the Editor:

This morning, the DEA closed Anderson’s Drug Store for a few hours to conduct an audit. It was inconvenient, but let me assure you that the DEA was just doing its job.

The opioid crisis is real. We see its effects every day. And Anderson’s Drug Store wants to do everything we can to support the DEA and others who seek to prevent drug abuse.

The audit of our store today was part of a larger investigation into illegal prescribing of opioids right here in our community. We have all seen the ravages of addiction. We all know someone who has suffered because of it. And we at Anderson’s Drug Store welcome this opportunity to help stop illegal prescribing and prescription drug addiction.

Please join us in taking a stand against opioid abuse. There’s an old proverb that says, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” As with the planting of trees, the prevention of drug abuse in our community should have happened years ago. But we can start in earnest in this moment.

Sincerely,

Gene Anderson
