DUBLIN – Beginning on Jan. 23, Bladen Community College will welcome educators from the Polytechnic Bilingual Institute Goshen of Panama to campus.  Victor Cedeño Caballero, founder of the Institute and Joel Andrade De León, will begin the week with a presentation about the effects of the Panamax on our local economy.

The event is scheduled for Mon., Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. in the Student Resource Center (building 7) on the Dublin campus and is open to the public.

While visiting the region, Andrade and Cedeño will explore the educational structure of Bladen Community College with plans to model the Polytechnic Bilingual Institute Goshen in a similar format. BCC’s successful college readiness program and the subsequent workforce skills programs are of particular interest to the Panama City based institution.

According to BCC staff member, Silas Acosta, “This team of visitors want to know how we help students who have dropped out of high school to regain their student status and become credentialed in skilled areas of the workforce. They are asking questions such as, how do we provide financial assistance for students who cannot pay for their education, and how do we assess our potential students for placement into our programs.”
