Peak Swells from Hurricane Sam Arriving Today, Resulting in Dangerous Rip Currents into Sunday

Spread the love

While Hurricane Sam may not be headed straight for the east coast, that does not mean we will not be seeing any effects from the storm.

Today into Sunday, incoming large swells will result in life-threatening rip currents. The highest risk will be along east and southeast-facing beaches.

Please keep in mind that beautiful weather is not necessarily an indication of safe water conditions. Some of the worst rip current events have occurred coincident with the best weather. So, while the dry and warm forecast this weekend will result in very nice beach conditions, the presence of rip currents will make it dangerous to anyone entering the water.

Surf conditions will be much improved by Monday.
