A pedestrian using a wheelchair was struck on S. Poplar Street on Wednesday evening, according to the Elizabethtown Police Department.
Nathan Carroll of Elizabethtown was driving southbound on S. Poplar Street near the intersection with McKay Street at 5:30 p.m. when he struck Ernest Rueben Scott of Elizabethtown as he was operating his wheelchair on South Poplar Street, according to the police report. Scott was traveling north on the southbound shoulder of S. Poplar Street at the time of the incident, according to the police report.
Scott was transported to Cape Fear Valley-Bladen Healthcare as a precaution and no serious injuries were reported, according to Lt. McMichael with the Elizabethtown Police Department.
Carroll was charged with an expired registration number plate.
