WASHINGTON – During a live interview with MSNBC on Saturday, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) urged his colleagues to remember the lessons of Ronald Reagan during debate on conservative health care reform.

In response to a question from MSNBC’s Stephanie Gosk on his recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, Congressman Pittenger replied, “I really commended Ronald Reagan and his leadership.  Ronald Reagan always said ‘I’ll take 80 percent of a loaf and come back for the rest later,’ and we need that spirit today to be able to transform healthcare in this country.  Look at what needs to be done with Medicaid.  It hasn’t been reformed in 50 years, since its inception, and this provides important reforms for Medicaid.”
