Congressman Robert Pittenger HeadshotWASHINGTON – Today, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest announced the Obama Administration will not withhold funding from North Carolina while HB2-related lawsuits are decided in federal court.
Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09), who earlier this week wrote Education Secretary John King requesting immediate assurances that federal education funding would not be curtailed, had this statement:
“President Obama has wisely chosen to step back from his role as Bully-in-Chief, allowing federal courts to weigh in on the law, as our Founding Fathers intended.  We must continue to reinforce the Separation of Powers, which supports the vital system of checks and balances at the heart of our great American experiment.”
Congressman Pittenger was joined by Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10), Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05), Congressman George Holding (NC-13), Congressman Richard Hudson (NC-08), Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07), Congressman Mark Walker (NC-06), Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (NC-02), Congressman Mark Meadows (NC-11), and Congressman Walter Jones (NC-03) in the joint letter to Education Secretary John King.
