US Congress Representative Robert Pittenger visited Bladen County on Wednesday to hear concerns and to learn about the needs of Bladen County.

He had visited Smithfield Foods in Tar Heel on Wednesday morning and Bladen Online caught up with him at San Jose Restaurant in the afternoon.

Pittenger still had on his itinerary to visit with Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker before making a final stop at Lu Mil Vineyard.

Pittenger, who represents the 9th Congressional District, is attempting to learn the needs of Bladen County and its residents that have been included in the newly drawn 9th Congressional district.

“I’m greeting folks and listening to their concerns,” said Pittenger during his stop at San Jose Restaurant.

There will be a reception hosted by the Bladen County GOP in Pittenger’s honor at 6 p.m. at Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin on Wednesday evening.

The newly drawn 9th Congressional District now consists of a portion of Bladen County, a portion of Cumberland County, a portion of Mecklenberg County and all of Robeson, Anson, Scotland, Richmond, and Union counties.
