WASHINGTON – This morning, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) welcomed Lumberton, N.C. Eagle Scout Ron King to the U.S. Capitol as he prepares to deliver the “State of Scouting” address to Congress.
During their meeting, Mr. King told Congressman Pittenger he hopes to become President to make a positive difference. Congressman Pittenger recited the Boy Scout laws and motto, and together they recited the Boy Scout oath.
“When Hurricane Matthew struck, Ron and his family were left with no electricity or television. Yet as a 14 year old, his first thought was to text one of his Scout leaders asking how he could help bring glory to God in this disaster. Over the next several days, Ron and other Scouts helped serve more than 2,000 meals each day at a Red Cross shelter, putting in more than 1,000 hours of combined community service,” explained Congressman Pittenger. “On behalf of Congress and the people of Lumberton, we are proud of Ron and look forward to witnessing the great things God has planned for this tremendous young man.”
