One of the most popular family shows in the world will be visiting Lumberton on Thursday, February 2, when the Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre performs at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater. The Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre features a European-style circus extravaganza including physical comedy, juggling, acrobats from the Moscow Circus, highly intelligent dogs and even house cats. All of the performing pets are rescue animals trained using positive reinforcement techniques and enhancing their natural abilities. As an added feature, the Robeson County Humane Society will be on hand with an information table in the theater’s lobby. Tickets are $23 for adults and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.carolinaciviccenter.com (there will be a convenience fee), or in person or by telephone Noon-6pm Monday through Friday through the theater’s administrative offices, or by calling the theater at 910-738-4339. The Theater lobby box office opens for ticket sales one hour prior to a performance.

The circus’s founder, Gregory Popovich, is a fifth generation circus performer who learned early on how to develop strong bonds with animals, has rescued a majority of his performers from shelters all over the country, and has transformed them into Las Vegas stars. He is a gold medal winner in Paris France and a special award winner in Monte Carlo. Gregory and his pets were finalists on “America’s Got Talent”, were guests on TV shows with Jay Leno, David Letterman, Craig Ferguson, was a feature on Animal Planet and many more. The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater is a beautifully-restored treasure listed on the National Register of Historic Places that offers visitors a unique and visually stunning experience.
