Bladen County Board of County Commissioners held a meeting on December 19, 2022, where they honored Bladen County Coroner Kenneth Clark for his years of service. 

The new Board Chairman, Rodney Hester, and the Board recognized Ray Britt, the immediate past Chairman.

In Bladen County, there were 22 confirmed overdose deaths last year, according to Trillium Health Resources Southern Regional Director Cecelia Peers. Peers presented the Board with a check from the Opioid Settlement as a one-time allocation of $77,319 for preventative and treatment measures to combat the opioid epidemic in Bladen County. Bladen County Finance Director Lisa Coleman reviewed the Financial Dashboard for the five-month period ending November 30, 2022, and a Federal Inmate Program summary for the same period.

The Board also approved the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) Agreement Between the Bladen County Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Bladen County Water District.

The Board also approved appointments to the advisor boards for Bladen County and approved various American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA-Enabled) Project Applications.
