During the hurricane season equestrians may want to know where to take horses to keep them out of harms way.

The Equine Evacuation Center Now Open. The Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), Mills Spring, N.C., has opened its doors as an equine refuge center for horses being evacuated ahead of Hurricane Dorian. TIEC’s lodging office is also open to accept individuals needing shelter. Tryon International Equestrian Center 4066 Pea Ridge Road Mill Spring, NC 28756.

The North Carolina Cooperative Agricultural extension office may be able to assist you in relocating horses as well. However, Becky Spearman with the local cooperative extension may be able to assist Bladen County citizens with horse evacuation needs. The extension office would need to know how many horses need to be evacuated, if the owner has a trailer, if the horses will load into a trailer, and where the horses will be evacuating from before information would be provided.

Please see the link below on evacuation site(s) that are available so far.
