sert-logoThe Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice today evacuated 136 probationers from the Robeson Confinement in Response to Violation (CRV) Center in Lumberton, a correctional facility where probation violators serve 90-day periods of incarceration.

While the center has not flooded, it has been without water for several days and water service is not expected to be restored for a week or longer.

Nearly 800 inmates remain evacuated from Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro and 237 probationers were evacuated Tuesday from DART Cherry, a residential substance abuse treatment center in Goldsboro. Neuse CI was surrounded by floodwaters and inaccessible, and some buildings at DART Cherry have flooded.

In addition, the state prison system continues to provide temporary housing for 72 inmates evacuated from the Beaufort County jail in Washington and 14 inmates from Edgecombe County’s jail.

Water service has been restored to all other state operated correctional facilities and one prison remained operating on generator power late Friday.
