Raleigh, N.C. – The State Board of Elections has opened the public comment period on the adoption of the rule cited as 08 NCAC 21 .0301. The full text can be found here.

The public comment period ends June 15, 2020.

Bob Hall, a registered voter and resident of Orange County, submitted a rulemaking petition to the State Board of Elections on January 23, 2020, under G.S. § 150B-20 and 08 NCAC 15 .0101.

The petition proposed a prohibition on the use of candidate committee funds to purchase, lease, rent or reimburse the candidate for residential real property that is owned directly or indirectly by the candidate or a member of the candidate’s family.

The State Board granted the petition on March 20, 2020, which starts the rulemaking process, including proposing text of the rule and soliciting public comment.
