A display of fancy handmade quilts made by Mary Pittman is now on exhibit in the Bladenboro Visual Arts Gallery in the Bladenboro Historical Society Building, 818 South Main Street, Bladenboro, NC. Bladenboro Visual Arts Gallery hours are 2 until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. This exhibit will continue until July 29th.

Mary Pittman was born in Bladen County in 1923, the daughter of William McCoy “Coy” Smith and Lilly E. Singletary.  Her quilts were made from 1945 through 1980.  The display of the quilts was prepared by Mrs. Pittman’s daughter, Mary Lou Davis
