White Oak native Rahu Purdie closed out his senior season Saturday by scoring 12 points, but his Lander Bearcats dropped an 87-67 decision to Peach Belt Conference regular-season champion Augusta.

Purdie was honored in ceremonies before tip-off Saturday. The Bearcats will play an opening round conference tournament game Wednesday night at a site yet to be determined.

Earlier in the week Purdie fired in 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a 101-87 win over North Georgia. The 5-9 guard dished out 7 assists and scored 10 points last week in a 108-103 loss to USC-Aiken.

Purdie collected 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in Lander’s 85-82 win over Georgia Southwestern. He tallied 10 points in a 95-90 victory over Columbus State.

The West Bladen grad has averaged 11.3 points and 3.3 assists as Lander finished 11-11 in the conference and 12-16 overall.
