West Bladen grad Rahu Purdie fired in 11 points Friday night to help his Lander Eagles post a season-opening 75-63 win over Brevard in the Carson-Newman Classic in Jefferson City, TN.
Purdie nailed a 3-point shot midway the first half that tied the game 13-13. The White Oak native sank 3 free throws in the final minute to close out the win.
Saturday night Purdie was in the starting line-up for the Classic finale against Carson-Newman and scored 2 points as his Eagles rallied from 13 points down to claim a 72-65 victory.
Lander returns to action Wednesday night with a 7:30 home game against King, TN.
