AUGUSTA – West Bladen grad Rahu Purdie pumped in 17 points Saturday to lead the scoring for Lander, but the Bearcats lost to Augusta 95-66 in Peach Belt Conference men’s basketball action.

Purdie connected on five of his seven 3-point shots against Augusta. Wednesday night Purdie filled up the stat sheet with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals as the Bearcats outlasted North Georgia 107-104 in overtime.

The White Oak native has started all 20 games for the Bearcats and is averaging 12.2 points and 3.4 assists per game.

The Bearcats, now 6-8 in the Peach Belt and 7-13 overall, will host UNC-Pembroke Wednesday night at 7:30.
