October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Lucy Byrd with Families First reminded Facebook users old cell phones can be repurposed.

Anyone may drop off their old mobile phones to Families First for clients to use to access 911 in emergency situations. Byrd suggested on the social site.

“Please bring them to our office, 121 West Main Street, in Whiteville or to our Elizabethtown office, directly across from the main steps of the Bladen County courthouse. Thank you so much!” Byrd said.
