Bladen County Schools is in the process of building a replacement school at the Tar Heel Middle school site. This school will replace Tar Heel Middle School and Plain View Primary School. It will serve grades PreK-8th. The site will be located at 14888 Hwy 87 West, Tar Heel, North Carolina. The anticipated start of construction will be March of 2022 and completion August 2023. The new school site is located on the current campus over the septic field but does not encroach on the current pump station. The new school septic field will have to be constructed before the new school starts so that the old school can use this system. The existing school will be demolished during the summer of 2023 so that the parking lot can be installed. Once the new septic field has been completed and approved, the conversion from the pump station will place the old school’s sewage into the new septic field. Bladen County Schools will be purchasing the tank system designed by Haggett Engineering from Concrete Pipe & Pre-Cast. This will be done to expedite the installation process and is expected to arrive on site by February 18, 2022.
The rebidding process will begin February 9, 2022, and end on February 11, 2022. The bid will be awarded upon review of all bids and by majority vote of the Bladen County Board of Education. The system must be ready and to convert the old school to connect to it by March 30, 2022. Enclosed is a septic design that is pending approval by the State of North Carolina. Site visits will be allowed before bid due date. Bids should either be emailed, mailed, or hand delivered to the following and received no later than Friday, February 11, 2022, at 3:00 PM:
