GREENSBORO – West Bladen’s Tyre Boykin and Jonathan Robinson and East Bladen’s 4×200 meter relay team all competed Saturday in the NCHSAA Class 2A State Track & Field meet at N.C. A&T.

Robinson, a senior, finished eleventh in the shot put with a heave of 43 feet, 11 inches. Ryan Eldridge of North Surry won the shot with throw of 59 feet, 2 inches. Red Springs’ Jerome Bass was fifth with a toss of 48 feet, 9 inches.

Boykin, a sophmore, was 12th in the triple jump with a leap of 41 feet, 4.25 inches. Scott McClendon of Forest Hills won with a jump of 45 feet, 4.25 inches. Dakota Oxendine of St. Pauls was sixth with a jump of 43 feet, 5.5 inches.

“I am very proud of these boys as first-year athletes in track,” said West Bladen Coach Taurius Baker. “They did an awesome job this year. At this point Tyre is the second-best sophmore in triple jump in the state of North Carolina in Class 2A.”

The East Bladen 4×200 meter relay team finished sixteenth with a time of 1:34.06. Members of the Eagle relay team are seniors Keymon Cromartie, A. J. Wynn, and Trevarius Carter and sophmore Lawson Hester. Forest Hills won the 4×200 with a time of 1:28.29. Three Rivers Conference foe Fairmont was fourteenth in 1:33.29.
