Bladen County commissioners recognized 4 employees who recently retired from their county positions.
Connie Hyatt retired after serving over 9 years, most recently in the Bladen County Library. County Manager Greg Martin expressed appreciation on behalf of the county for her years of service.
Madison K. (Matt) Dennis (R) retired from the Bladen County Sheriff’s department with nearly 21 years of service and Jimmy L. Stanley (L) retired with 11 years of service. Sheriff Jim McVicker thanked both for their years of service, wished them well in retirement and said both remain members of the Bladen County Sheriff family.
David Kent Gooden (L) retired from the Bladen County Solid Waste Department with nearly 9 1/2 years of service. Robert Mazur, General Services Manager, praised Gooden for his work ethic and friendship and wished him the best in retirement.
James G. (Jimmy) Smith (R) was presented a plaque for his time as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. He remains on the board, but his term expired as Chairman.
All were presented plaques by Chairman Charles Ray Peterson and Vice Chair Russell Priest.
