Governor Cooper visited storm damaged areas in the counties of Bladen, Duplin, Lenoir, Wayne, Pender, Onslow, New Hanover, Jones, Pamlico, and Craven last week. The governor met with survivors, first responders, and volunteers at water and food distribution centers.

“In spite of all the pain I’ve seen since this disaster struck, I’ve witnessed North Carolinians at their finest,” said Gov. Cooper. “I know the people of North Carolina have the grit and determination to recover.”

Governor Cooper also joined emergency management officials and state agencies to provide public storm briefings and discuss the shift from emergency response to full-time recovery from Hurricane Florence.

“This week, we’re moving ahead with short-term recovery help for storm survivors: housing, food, and other critical assistance,” said Gov. Cooper. “Our state is strong, and together, we’ll recover smarter and stronger than ever.”

Local, state and federal partners are working together to ensure that people who need assistance get it. The governor and first responders will continue providing ongoing support for North Carolinians impacted by Hurricane Florence
