There’s still work to be done on the Cape Fear River bridge on U.S. 701 in Elizabethtown before all lanes will be open, says Faye Boyne, the administrative specialist for the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Division of Highways Elizabethtown office.

The southbound bridge was closed for several weeks as debris floating down the river following Hurricane Florence last year piled up beneath the bridge. One lane of the southbound bridge had been open.

Here is the list of current road projects in Bladen County:

CLOSINGS:

U.S. 701

Lane shift for shoulder closure and to move southbound traffic to northbound bridge for the purpose of debris removal from under the southbound Cape Fear River bridge. Eleven-foot lane restriction is in place in this section. Contractor to remove debris.

State Road 1712 Lisbon Road

SR 1712 closed on Tuesday May 8 for crossline repair. The road will remain closed for two weeks through May 22. There will be no detour.

N.C. 210

N.C. 210 is closed .6 miles north of Green Sea Road. It will be closed for two weeks.

ELWELL FERRY:

The ferry remains closed due to high water in the Cape Fear River.
