The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced the following road openings and closings in Bladen County
OPENINGS:
Marsh Road
Marsh Road is open.
CLOSINGS:
Tobermory Road
Tobermory Road is closed at NC 87 due to a failed crossline pipe/void underneath the road. Work is scheduled to begin on July 24th and should be complete by the end of the first week in August.
Richardson Road
Richardson Road is closed between NC 211-Business (Seaboard St) and the CSX Railroad in order to replace several crosslines and install one new crossline. This section of Richardson Road will be closed through next week.
River Road – NEW
River Road is closed south of Burney Road in order to repair damage to pavement and shoulders caused by an overturned tractor trailer accident. The road will be closed through late tomorrow afternoon.
UPCOMING CLOSINGS:
US 701 North
Beginning next week (awaiting word from contractor for more specific date/time), NC DOT plans to close US 701 north at Colly Creek in order to perform a scour repair to the box culverts that were damaged during Hurricane Matthew. The location is just south of Mote Road. Local traffic will use Mote Road and NC 41 for access around the work site, the official detour route will be NC 41 and NC 210 in order to keep through trucks on routes with wider lane widths. Once construction begins, it should be completed within two weeks. As we get more specific information, we will post it on NCDOT’s Traveller Information Management System (TIMS) and will notify you via an update.

The Elwell Ferry is operating.
