Junior Evan Odum pitched a 2-hitter and struck out five to lead Lumberton to a 12-1 victory Tuesday over West Bladen in the third-place game of the Robeson County Slugfest Baseball Tournament at St. Pauls.

Doubles by junior Alec Brewington and senior Raleigh Forrest highlighted a 5-run Lumberton first inning that was capped by senior Austin Locklear’s 2-run home run over the left-centerfield fence.

The Pirates piled on 4 more runs in the second. Sophmore A. J. Brooks led off with a double, and infield hits by Brewington and senior Austin Hammonds followed. Odum knocked in a run with single, and Forrest belted a 2-run single.

West Bladen cracked the scoring column in the third inning. Sophmore Weston Pidgeon beat out an infield hit, and junior Seth Britt drew a walk. Pidgeon raced home on junior Jeremy Hunt’s bouncer that was misplayed by the shortstop.

Lumberton tacked on a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Forrest batted 3-3 with a double and 4 runs batted in. Odum finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi. Brewington was 2-2 with an rbi, Brooks batted 2-3 and Locklear launched the 2-run homer.

Pidgeon and Michael Pastore connected for one hit each for the Knights. Hunt started on the mound and pitched 3-plus innings, before freshman Jarrett Williams relieved in the fourth.

West Bladen is now 6-3 and will return to Four County Conference play Tuesday at home against Clinton.
