The 11th annual Roger’s Wish Project has begun and will continue through November 1 at the Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown.
The collection drive for the needy will be accepting donations of new or gently used blankets and sleeping bags during regular library business hours. Winter wear items such as hoodies, gloves, socks and winter hats also will be accepted.
The beloved mission was founded in 2013 by Elizabethtown resident Roger Theodore Grunder (pictured above). Three weeks into the project he lost his life in a car accident. Family and friends have carried his mission each year in his memory. Roger’s Wish has collected and distributed nearly 1,300 donated items since its inception.
Distribution day will take place on Thursday, November 7 at the library’s main branch located on North Cypress Street in Elizabethtown.
Roger’s sister, Mariea Bryant of Elizabethtown, and Jeffrey Bryan of White Oak will oversee this year’s donations distribution.
