IMG_0754Alex Munroe, owner of Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery, was the guest of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club on Wednesday where he discussed his plans for the winery’s which is set to host its first event on April 29.

Munroe told the group that he originally relocated a plastics company to the Elizabethtown Industrial Park and shortly after the move, the opportunity to purchase the former winery developed.

“Everyone has been so supportive. I’m so grateful for that. It gives me a lot more encouragement for what I’m doing,” said Munroe.

The winery consists of about 13 acres and Munroe said he plans to offer a wide selection of both estate wines and other wines and as well as a nice restaurant called Uncorked which will feature southern-style food.

Munroe said there will also be a second dining facility called the Cork Room and the menu for it is still being developed. He said Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery will be open for both lunch and dinner.

Munroe also has plans to build a ballroom which can seat about 200 people, a gazebo, and an amphitheater. There is also outdoor seating on patios. Munro said that the facility features a lake on the property and he has plans to construct cottages around the lake .

He said that by opening day on April 29, there will be seven cottages but the facility has permits to construct a total of 30 cottages. Munroe anticipates the cottages will rent at a rate of $100 to $150 per night.

Munro said the facility also has a variety of animals including llamas, peacocks, swans, ducks and miniature horses. He said there is also a horse-drawn carriage ride available.

He also has plans to offer concerts at the facility as well as other special events.

Munro said that the Vineyard is  already booking events for 2017. To get your special event on the schedule, call 844 Vine Fun.

“It has been well received and we invite everyone to come out,” said Munroe.
